How XING saves your password

Answer

We never save your password in unencrypted form.
To this end, we hash your password with a unique salt before saving it in our database. We also add a secret value (pepper), which is stored separately.
When choosing algorithms and the number of hashing operations we use, we apply state-of-the-art technology, currently PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA512.
