How does the search feature work?

Answer

You can use the member search to look for interesting contacts on XING. Simply start typing in the search field in the header at the top of your screen. In the XING app tap on the magnifier icon in the top right corner.

Enter the search terms you want (e.g. name, position, company) for a quick search. Relevant matches will appear as you type. Press enter or click on the magnifying glass symbol and you will then be shown a list of the most relevant search results. You can view the profiles found and send contact requests if you wish. You can also sort the list using the filter at the top by "Relevant first" or "Newest members first".

Basic members get a maximum of 10 search results without any restrictions, even if there are considerably more results for the search terms they entered. If they wish they can narrow down the search results even further using the "Contact level" filter.

Premium members are shown up to 300 search results. Premium Members also have access to the Advanced Search allowing them to search more specifically using individual profile fields or filters.

You can carry out an "Advanced Search" as follows:

  1. Click on the search field at the top of XING.
  2. In the drop down that appears (What are you searching for?) choose A person.
  3. Click on Advanced search on the right hand side of the screen.

Now enter your search terms in the respective fields and hit 'enter' or choose from the dropdown menu.

Important: If you enter several search terms you will only see those results that are 100% matches for all these terms. If no results are shown then there were no matches. In which case you can either alter your search terms or enter fewer terms.
